Our Ranks
Initiate
In the Midwestern division, initiates are members who have completed initial training (and are thus one step above recruits), and the lowest rank that can be assigned to combat duty.
Junior knight
The first rank among the knights, issued to senior squires who demonstrate competence
Knight
The standard knight rank, representing a competent fighter.
Senior knight
Experienced knights may be promoted to a position of seniority, overseeing the activities of their juniors.
Knight Sergeant
Knight sergeant is a rank used by the Midwestern Brotherhood , denoting a position below knight captain. The rank gives command of one or two squads of knights
Knight Captain
Knight captain is a rank used by the Midwestern Brotherhood. Knight captains can be seen holding staff jobs as well as command positions.
Knight Commander
Knight commanders are often seen in the field leading shock troopers dropped off of Vertibirds, or in charge of a command post in the Midwestern Brotherhood, leading lower ranking knights into battle. They are the highest ranking knights in the Brotherhood
Head Knight
The commander of the knights, in charge of all their operations. The Brotherhood allows for positions to be combined, and one person can be both head knight and head paladin.
Junior Paladin
The initial rank for a knight promoted to paladin status.
Paladin
The "base" rank of veteran soldiers of the Midwestern Brotherhood, granted access to power armor and the finest weapons available.
Paladin commander
Paladin commanders are senior paladins tasked with leading other forces into the fray.
Paladin lord
Paladin lords are paladins who lead special operations outside of the main Brotherhood of Steel military. They only report to the high elder and Elder Council. Their operations are sometimes kept secret from the generals because they often clash with Brotherhood military regulations. They are given specially selected squads that will follow the paladin lords without question and are forbidden to talk about their missions to other members of the Brotherhood.
Sentinel
Sentinel is a rank used by the East Coast division, ranking between star paladin and elder. Sentinels do not require specific orders and usually conduct operations at their own discretion, with the elder issuing only standing, high-level orders. Sentinels are appointed directly by the chapter's elder, acting as an extension of their will. There is no requirement to appoint a sentinel and many chapters can go for years without one.
General
Generals control all of the Brotherhood's military. They report to the high elder and the Elder Council and will only make a move if it's approved by them. They obtain the title of general by showing outstanding performance in military tactics and combat. They help decide the titles of the most promising recruits from initiates and squires all the way up to knight and paladin commanders.
Elder
The elder is the supreme leader of the entire Brotherhood of Steel.
